  • “Mummy I dont want to go home today”

Its 7.30, its quite hot, and Asha has just woken up.. Steve is making me a drink, and I have a tearfull Asha to deal with.

I guess she has enjoyed camp and all her playing.. Oh well she still has “The pea fair” to do, the taking down of the tent, and the “winnie the pooh play” for the Carnival Badge. Asha trotted out to her find her friends. some of them had got up early this morning, having actually gone to bed at reasonable times last night. Others were not planning on getting up, much before mid-day, but we soon changed those plans.

Asha had a lovely day. The sun being out made packing down easier, and we all enjoyed a boiled egg with our cereal for breakfast. A great camp has ended. Thanks Gwerin leaders in Gwynedd, you are all stars, and the kids… well your just FAB!

  • Off to Camp

With 1/2 a tank of fuel. No spare money, at all. A load of spare food, a tent we think is complete, and allready tired… Oh well :d

We are camping in Lllanberis with Gwerin Y Coed. I am praying they can cater for Asha O.k. I am sure Steve is going to spend the weekend tired, and hungry, and to be honest I am not at all sure about any of this. But we are going.

first job now, is to find the campsite… Done that, and to my amazement, the tent was complete, and Asha spent the first night in the tent, on her own side… WOW. My baby is growing up.

We went to a story tellers tonight. It was great, all sat in a round house, listening to stories. I was a bit cross, as a couple of the older kids had these like “light sticks” which were very off putting. But well it isnt for me to judge is it ;) They kepts on squirming around and playing with them.

Asha was exhausted by the time she fell asleep back at camp.

  • Subway - Discriminating towards our children!

they are doing a competition which dosnt include home schoolers in america. As such they are now on my boycott list.

Contest is open only to legal US residents, over the age of 18 with children in either elementary, private or parochial schools that serve grades PreK-6. No home schools will be accepted.

I cant say Subway are a firm we use much in this house, but I know a lot of people who do. so if you read this and use subway for your lunch, please find a local independant sandwich shop to buy from instead!

  • Journey home

Yesterday, I forgot to mention that i did a quick trip to matalan with granny.

Today we left Grannys to come home. We left before lunch time - very unusual for us, to get away before 3 pm. So progress on this front. On the way home we returned to Aber, and on the way out of the car, steve found some rather rude writing on the front passenger side panel.. Oh well, the car isnt two weeks old, and some kind idiot has written abuse on it. the only place other than my parents side drive, I have parked the car, since we Friday has been Matalans car park…..

Anyway, back to aber. Asha had a lovely time playing, and we stayed far longer than we planned to! S & N’s kids are great, though A still dosnt like dogs :d

After our delivery of stuff there, we went to hassel J, in Caernarfon. I naturally drove past her house before I realised, and thus had to do a u, turn.. but thats life! J as always was kind and loveing to us all. Her kids played with Asha, and asha didnt want to leave again.. She never does!

Home at last… Sleep? I doubt it.. We have to unpack, and pack for camp on Wednesday!

  • Splish, splash, granny, bash…

Yep, you guessed right. granny did her Sunday Morning trip to the village, with Asha this morning, whilst Steve, Grandad and I all remained in bed.. BLISS!

Asha had a lovely time, and really enjoyed her chips after the swim!  - She has the memory of a elephant over things like “granny you promised last time, we could go for chips next time we came here”… The little monkey :d

We spent most of the Afternoon, playing with her on her newly adapted swing.. ie the swing now has her yellow see saw tied on it.  She is now sailing on her swing! Oh the joys of childhood.. and the rampent dangers, of falling off things, which she dosnt seem to be a little bit worried about!.. KIDS!

Oh well, this afternoon she conked out with daddy for a while, that was a much needed rest, and tonight? Late night, but slept through at least.

  • Saturday Calm.

Asha spent today playing with her toys at Grannys, and we had a barbecue at night, just the five of us. It was so easy, pleasant and simple. I really enjoyed it.

Grandad has re-instated the rope swing, and we all took it in turns to play with Asha on it.. Well push her anyway. She has made us all cups of tea, and enjoyed playing with her toys. I forgot to pack Steves jumper for him, so he has spent a fair bit of time hibernating in the bedroom, in bed. But I am sure having an excuse to read a book in bed, isnt really a bad thing for him at the moment. He looks really tired!

Asha kind of had a realisation today that Hata is no longer with us. She hasnt been to “the wirral” since he died, and I think it has upset her a bit. If you remeber we have had problems explaining it to her. I think she now understands, as much as a 4 year old can. I missed Hata this weekend, if only wondering why it was quieter!

Anyway, we have sorted through some more of our rubbish, and we have some rubbish to take to J for the C.L.A.S car boot in June. I think we may have some for our friends in Aber, as well.. Must check that!

Easy dinner, easy evening, easy evening. Lets just hope it remains this way for the rest of the week!… Oh the weather, beautiful!

  • Friday night, scramble

After a busy day, at home we went to my parents for the weekend. Originally we were going to go on Saturday Morning, but as we wanted to spend three nights there, it would have meant no space between theres and going camping.. that didnt feel a good idea!

On the way we called in at friends in Abergwyngregyn, it was good to have a stop of place on route! When we arrived the meeting for gwerin Y coed was about to take place, this allowed me to meet up with our “chef” for camp and partly put my mind at rest.

Hoping Asha would fall asleep on way to grandparents was a bit hopefull I guess, as no she didnt. Ended up a very late night for Asha, as when we arrived at Grannys the toys all came out, and she played, played played for what seemed like hours!

  • Greenwood Forest with Friends.

Asha and I joined some friends from C.L.A.S at Greenwood Forest Parc today. It was lovely, the older kids took Asha up some of the more difficult rides, and she really enjoyed herself. We only did a couple of hours there, so it wasnt too tireing for either of us, and we both enjoyed it.

There was a few rides she didnt want to go on, but that was o.k. as well.

  • Ant in a house.

Whilst in the bath, Asha wrote this poem. I think I have written it down correctly:

    Ant in a house,

    with a mouse

    Goes to the cupboard,

    Gets it with its paws

    And eats it with claws

and it sent it a postcard home.

  • Saturday, Play Day

Asha got up with Daddy and did some TV, a rare treat these days. After she did breakfast mummy got up, and we wizzed to pwhelli, to do some small jobs.

Once home we played in the Garden, and Daddy did a bit of potting of plants.

Asha and I then came indoors and made some corn tortillas and had some sausage butties as we were all hungry by now!

Daddy made a beef curry, for when R and A were due around. Around 4 pm they turned up, along with a St Johns Wort Plant.. WOW! Steve rappidly got it into the ground, in the hole he had previously dug.

After the two girls had a play outside on there bikes, and then did some HAMA beads, and ate some curry and sausages. We took them for a walk on the beach at Aberdesach,  where we did a bit of water play, looked at some rocks, had a close up of a crab, and did some sea side botany research on return, in the pouring rain, and then along to Pwhelli.  Asha fell asleep on the way home, so I poped her straight to bed.

R and A had a drink before setting off home.

    So what is this then?

  • Friday Fever

We all tried to get our eyes tested on Friday, but no where had a free slot so we went to visit some friends in llanferfechain.

We had a lovely afternoon sitting in the garden, or at least I sat (other than when I fell over and hurt my wrist again) whilst the “men” plus R burnt wood, and made a barbecue.

The two girls played, all afternoon, and we came home with 3 ash siblings, on holly sibling, and a Bay Plant. All of which Steve has now planted in our new garden We have also been given pepper and tomatoe plants to put in.

The two girls also did some re-potting and wildlife exploration, which was great fun, and took some fantastic clippings which steve then wore behind his ears. …. I must try and get a camera working again :/

R is bring us a big plant around this afternoon which I couldn’t fit in my car, and right now I cant remember the name off.

It had gone past 8 pm when we got home, luckily I did have our normal packed lunch on the car for A, which she ate on the way home. Once home she went straight to bed, and to sleep… Bliss…..

Yesterday as we were leaving CLAS, Asha says “bye-bye everybody - don’t forget to keep your children safe.” She can be lovely like that sometimes.

We bought her a trampoline the other day. I’ll post some pics of her jumping like a loon in the next few days.

  • lone parent on income support DWP again!

Please pass this information freely to local groups and early years lists.

If you are lone parent on income support and you have a 4 year old who will be 5
by november 2008, then you will lose your entitlement to income support in
november 2010 and be moved to jobseeker’s allowance where you will have your
personal allowance of £60.50 a week stopped if you do not take up a “reasonable
job offer” of 16 hours a week.

Following my meeting with the head of the Parents Employment Division at the
Department of Work and Pensions on Tuesday, it now looks as though there is ONE
LAST CHANCE to get the draft regulations amended.

We need an exemption for home educating single parents and as worst case
scenario we need to ensure that the lower age limit is 12 and not 7.

There are several options for exemption which include the following

Option 1 is to argue that home educating lone parents should continue to have
    an entitlement to Income Support

Option 2 is to argue that Jobseeker’s Allowance regulations must be framed in
such a way that home educating lone parents’ benefits will NOT be cut if the
claimant does not take up a job offer.

Please read my report of the meeting which gives more information.

Education Otherwise will also be lobbying the Minister.

  • In Memory of Maldwyn Jones

A local fisherman has recently been assumed dead at sea.

A search has been called off for a fisherman missing from a boat off the coast of Gwynedd.

The missing man was named locally as Maldwyn Jones, 60, from Nefyn. Coastguards said it is thought he was not wearing a lifejacket.

His boat was found empty on Monday after a relative spotted it going around in circles, off Trefor.

  • Caernarfon Brick Works.

The first group of workers will be laid off on Friday as a brick works in Caernarfon, Gwynedd, is closed.

It brings to an end a history of brick making in the town dating back around 200 years to the early 1800s.

The works, currently owned by Hanson, has been producing bricks on the banks of the Seiont river since 1966.

    Brick Works and caernarfon???

    Seiont Brick Pit

Just outside Caernarfon, was the brickworks. It used the local geology to manufacture bricks. The quarry from which clay is extracted is situated within a river valley, the Seiont river valley.
