On top of snowdon
For Asha’s birthday we went up snowdon on the train. With granny and grandad. Luckily for us, it was a beautiful clear day, and when we got to the top Steve took a picture of Asha on the top.
The train which runs up snowdon runs on “Dr. Roman Abt, had patented a rack and pinion system that was being used reliably in the Swiss Alps.” source: http://www.snowdonrailway.co.uk
“Snowdon (Welsh: Yr Wyddfa, pronounced [?? ?w?ðva]) is the highest mountain in Wales and is Great Britain’s highest mountain south of the Scottish Highlands. It is also higher than anywhere in Ireland. It has been described as “probably the busiest mountain in Britain.”[1] It is located in Snowdonia National Park (Welsh: Parc Cenedlaethol Eryri), in Gwynedd. The summit is known as Yr Wyddfa, Welsh for “the tumulus”[2]) and lies at an altitude of 1,085 metres (3,560 ft) above sea level.”

Christmas Eve

On Christmas Eve, after we all had our baths, the three of us sat down to a big pan of stew, and pulled some crackers. Asha, and I then had a long story session, which lead to Asha falling asleep unusually early.
This is just a cute photograph of her with one of her teddy’s which she has decided to name Hoopy!

I have been sent the included feathers in an email. Now I am assuming they are guinine
art work, as I know the person who sent me them is very involved with this area
I just thought some others may like not only to read the small story behind them, but also see the works!
God’s Wings -
A little something to put things in perspective…
After a forest fire in Yellowstone National Park , forest
rangers began their trek up a mountain to assess the inferno’s damage.
One ranger found a bird literally petrified in ashes, perched statuesquely on the ground at the base of a tree. Somewhat sickened by the eerie sight, he knocked over the bird with a stick. When he gently struck it, three tiny chicks scurried from under their dead mother’s wings.
The loving mother, keenly aware of impending disaster, had carried her offspring to the base of the tree and had gathered them under her wings, instinctively knowing that the toxic smoke would rise.
She could have flown to safety but had refused to abandon her babies. Then the blaze had arrived and the heat had scorched her small body, the mother had remained steadfast …because she had been willing to die, so those under the cover of her wings would live.

None stop asha!
Wakes up at 6 am.. demanding breakfast. Daddy to the rescue.
7.30 mummy can hear her dancing and singing downstairs. So resigned to the fact of Asha wont be quiet drags herself out of bed. 8.30 were on our way to swimming lessons.
10. o’clock very proud of herself Asha ends lesson and we head home.
11. does some maths with her abacus.
11.40 makes a lift the flap book about swimming
12.40 lunch
1. 50 is current doing glass painting downstairs.
…followed by more adding up with abacus, followed by painting a chimp mask, and every five seconds being Asked where GRANNY is and being told she is naughty. Its 3.07, time we are normally trying to wind Asha down and no sign of granny I am NOT amused.
Considering for the last three nights Asha has been in bed for 6 this is not fair nor funny.

Paint Job?
Well we all enjoy the effects of a newly painted house, but do you fancy the challenge of painting a light house?
BBC Penmon lighthouse on Anglesey
The Penmon Lighthouse on Anglesey seems a fair challenge, but what about Roman Rock in Simonstown, where great grandad used to work?
Roman Rock lighthouse is the only lighthouse in South Africa to stand on a rock. On account of high tides and gale-force winds, work could only be carried out 7 days a month and consequently it took 4 years to build – from 1857 to 1861.
Roman Rock lighthouse in 1910 with the lighthouse keeper and his assistant. The lighthouse keepers in 1910 were Charles H and Jeremias B.

Egg Poacher.
Yes, you know one of those things which have hot water in and you can cook eggs in?
Well after years, and years of wanting one. Steve bought me one last week. Brand is Horwood, and it cooks 4 at a time. The result? Poached eggs.
We got it from Saks in Bangor. On the whole they sell a good selection, however I was disapointed that they dont do double boilers.. Oh well, they do do some really interesting stuff!
Wonderful!

Skates
She was supposed to get these for her birthday. But after her trying to skate using bigger skates we decided that it would be better for her to get used to safer ones before she got traumatised with the big ones.
She spent ages on them today with us holding her hand. She is growing confident on them already and wanted to play football in them.

Hatter
He was a really cool dog. One of his favourite tricks was I’d throw a ball or something for him and he would run after it, catch it then run away with it. Very often the challenge was to catch him before he run away. All he really wanted was to be loved, fed and walked and spoiled once in a while by Reg.
