Wednesdays Child…..
Well today was the home education group.. otherwise know as CLAS.
We were all a bit sleepy this morning, and none of us really wanted to get up. We have received this weeks “i love film” dvd’s and so we watched one in bed before we got up. “What to eat now.. Autum cd 1”
Well if your going to watch tv in bed.. it needs to be interesting…!
After that we all got up, and i had a much needed bath. Asha did some early morning art work.. and then we got together our selves and went to pick T up, as his mums car was off the road again.
At CLAS we ate our dinner, and Asha enjoyed playing with her friends, and using her roller skates. She is currently really enjoying roller skating and skateboarding. I plan to take her to the local skateboarding “site” one day soon.
I had a lovely time talking to Kay and Rowenna. It was good to have some time, to sit and talk. I am not spending much time in the main hall at the moment, but this is partly because its just too active in there and my little head cant cope with it!
J and I sat and discussed crafts for the next few weeks. Hopefully she will start feeling brighter soon. If we can get through this blip in the craft market, then we will be back on track i am sure. E, has offered to do some crafts as well which is fabulous, the more the merrier!
On the way home, Asha was hungry, and asked if we could go to the shops for some crips.. I agreed. She was very happy at having a whole pack of hoola hoops to her self!
Oh well.. Night all!!!

More and more camping…
We have just done a C.L.A.S creative learning and support, camp on anglesey. It was a week long, and fantastic as normal. Asha enjoyed playing, being, learning and everything else which happens in camp. She also proved to me, how she really is being a good girl over her violin and practiced 5 days out of 7.
She is loving it.

Were all going to the zoo…
Well spring has arrived and so we have had our first trip to the Welsh Mountain zoo for 2009.
It was lovely to be back outside with all the kids and parents, wandering around watching the little monkeys, the goats and the baby rabbits.
Asha at the moment has a real thing about rabbits, and was fascinated when we were talking about how they talk to each other.. stamping there feet.. she is spending a lot of time doing this action right now… Stomp stomp stomp!

Wednesday…..
Asha has been sleeping in our bed, for part of the night for a few weeks now. Steve and I have decided that as long as she is in the middle, and we have enough bed each, this seems to be o.k.
As such, when our clock Alarm goes off in the morning, it normally wakes me and steve up, and if Asha isnt awake her as well. Well today, she slept through it. About 3/4 of an hour later she was awake and trying to get me up.. Grrrr.
I eventually got up at 9.40, and we got ready for CLAS. Asha still has a bad cough, but i informed her, that if she stays inside the hall, she could go. She did this, and played happily all day. Wrapped up, and content.
She made some bird feed balls, and the craft activity this week was hama beads, she still struggles a bit with these, but was soon on her way with it all, and enjoyed the socialisation.
After CLAS we returned to Gwerin, after our break. She was SOOOooo pleased to see her friends.

Tights Fall Down…..
Yep that is right, stalactites fall down.. and stalagmites crawl up.
When I was in senior school I remeber weeks of our geography lessons being spent discussing these things, and it was sooo boring! Last week the kids at CLAS had great fun playing with them, and asking questions and taking photographs of them.
I hope to take Asha tomorrow to the river to look at ice a bit more, but in the mean time, some information for you on ICE, Stalactites and Stalagmites.

Kristian – Local home edd kid…..
A teenager who was almost blind due to a rare eye condition has had his life transformed by special contact lenses.

Kristian Cook, 14, from Bangor, in Gwynedd, was unable to read a book, play sport or even watch television.

Keratoconus (KC) is a condition of the eye meaning conical conea. It is a rare condition. Numbers affected vary between 1 in 3,000 and 1 in 10,000 depending on where they live. It usually affects both eyes, although one eye is normally affected before the other.
KERATOCONUS literally means “conical or cone-shaped cornea” and it is a condition that affects vision.

Fireworks, Kids and mayhem.
After an exhausting after noon at CLAS for Steve and Asha. I enjoyed doing stuff at home. We went to the “fireworks” in caernarfon. Its location is beuatifull, because they hold it over the marina. I would love to just collect the locations of displays for a photo blog. But as we dont even have a photo of caernafon marina.. that isnt going to occur! Well we sort of went to them.. we got there as they ended
As all professional firework watchers should
Anyway all the kids had a great time, and us adults did I think as well. Its so much easier doing things like bonfire night with a group. I think its because Asha is off an age where she loves being with older kids, and they do tend to look after her for me.
Anyway, after the event we all went back to J’s for sparklers, which Asha thoroughly enjoyed. Last night Asha did a Big sleep, although she did wake up for a small period around 1.30 with cramp again. She was screaming out for me as well…I do think I should sleep outside on nights like that!
Plan for today? Pain killers + pain killers = some pain relief = coffee… good plan hey

I am asleep… cant you tell!
Asha slept well last night, which has made this morning far easier for me. I was left praying last night as I was so exhausted, that she would sleep and she did… I am not religious.. but just in case.. THANKYOU GOD! – manners never cost anything do they
Anyway, I have packed Asha and Steve off with J to CLAS. Thanks J. Has any ever told you your a hugh STAR. And although I have know you less than a year your also probably one of my best friends now as well! – now is this a good thing????
So I was back home for around 12. and have washed the few dishes in the kitchen, cleaned the cat tray. Made a coffee. Realised i need to make those phone calls, and made a coffee.
However I am meant to be sleeping.. Cant you tell!
On leaving Asha at J’s today I told her I am going now, and that I love her.. her reply. “GOOD” now is that good that i love her, or good that i was going? Anyway a moment later she ran to me for a kiss.. then went off again. I love my little daughter, she is sooo content!
right I am now having a drink, then making those phone calls. I am sure Asha and Steve will be loving CLAS by now, and hopefully R and her children from Gymnastics will find the hall as well!

Those… ****** Fireworks.
Every night this week they have kept Asha awake. I am now really starting to get annoyed with them.
Anyway today we had a lazy day. I didnt get much sleep lastnight, so didnt make it over to Fords again, or to swimming in portmadog.
We did eventually get to Pwhelli this afternoon however to get some jobs done we were going to do on Thursday. This leaves Thursday nicely clear for us, which is great. As I hope to pick some boxes up tomorrow, and pack them. and then do some more on Thursday.. We may do a trip through to Bangor on Thursday to sign paperwork as well… No us excited.. really…
Asha has played outside.. done some maths with daddy, and drawn a lovely picture today for me. She also sat and watched the roal dahl video with me again, played with her teddys, been out for lunch, and chosen which items to buy for ff for her birthday. Only home edd kids at age 10 would want plates wouldnt they!… O.k. not quite “plates” but willow patten plates, cos they collect them!
Oh well thats sorted, so hopefully now, all we have to do is wrap them, make lunch for S and A tomorrow, and I can get to bed soon, as i am sitting here exhausted.

Blogging…then forgetting….
Yes, I know I havent been very good lately at providing a running commentry again of our day. why? Apart from the fact i feel awfull, Asha has been doing so much, and I just havent felt like spending time on the computer.
Anyway some fun things she has done:
Fungal forrage with friends at Moleci.
Swimming with friends at Portmadog.
A day at the beach – yes the second week in October! at Dinas.
Dutch Pancakes at a Tea Room near Snowdon.
A go on go-carts at parc Glasfryn.
Ride on her bike and on scooters in the road.
A trip to the play ground with J from CLAS.
A play date with R and A. – water bombs made, cutting out of words done.
A play date with T and R.G fed the ducks, and played with their dog.
Watched the Steam Train in Caernarfon.
Made bread rolls, very successfull they were as well!
Done more glass painting.
Completed a painting by numbers she started in August.
Plus so many other things, like swimming lessons, gymnastics, learning welsh, and being able to write her own name. Asha also drew a lovely picture of her daddy helping her to roller skate. She started wth the boots, drew her legs, then her body and arms and head, then she drew daddy.
Book wise, she has completed Toms Midnight Garden, and has been loveing the Medici Chidrens books lately. Not really wanting any other books to be read to her. I cant blame her really the stories are so gentle, and the illustrations so peacefull, they are a great bedtime story!

Time flys buy when your a passenger on a train….
I cant seem to find the energy or inclination right now to blog. I think i am just in soo much pain and Soo tired.
Asha is still loveing Gymnastics.
She is also enjoying her swimming lessons, especially now we have changed pools.
She is doing a week long course during half term as well. Its every morning but as I am paying for her lessons and this week is free! I thought.. Why not. Plus it will tire her out for the week, and as no one needs to go into the pool with her I wont be as exhausted!
She is still doing swimming with home edd friends on a Tuesday as well, which she loves.
She spent a day at the beach on Monday – Its mid october!
She is desperate to go back to Gwerin. I think we will try for January. Hopefully she will be over the food problems by then and I will feel stroger.
Steve is still looking for suitable work… He would like to be off benefits. Our OU course materials have arrived for L196- they look good.
I feel crap. I look crap, my balance is crap.

Most Dangerous Chocolate Cake Recipe in the World.
My thanks to A, for this. Sorry i dont know the source of it, but we did it at CLAS today and the kids love it!
5 Min Chocolate Mug Cake
1. coffee mug
4 tbsp plain flour. (it works fine with gluten free)
4 tbsp sugar
2 tbsp baking cocoa (i think we used less in the group)
1 egg
3 tbsp milk (I used soya with Asha)
3 tbsp oil
3 tbsp chocolate chips (optional)
small splash of vanilla.
Add dry ingredients to mug and mix well.
Add egg and mix thoroughly.
Pour in milk and oil and mix again
Add chocolate chips if using and vanilla, and mix again
put mug in microwave and cook for 3 minutes at 1000 watts.
The cake will rise over the top of the mug, but dont be alarmed.
Allow to cool a little and tip out onto a plate.
Eat.
I reckon it would be great cut into slices, then turned into a yule log or caterpillar.. It certainly tastes o.k. and the home edd kids LOVED making it today!

The things we do in the name of education!
It is boring, I am sat, with another two mums in a helicopter, bored. Steve is wandering around trying to find something to amuse himself and one of the other parents. The kids? Running around the air museum jumping in and out of aeroplanes and pretending they are in fact in the middle of this terrible war!
I was always told that museums were for older people. In fact i have realised that museums are for those interested in what the museum is showing, or in the case of the air museum in caernarfon. Its fantastic for a group of home edd kids

Ruler Boomerang.
During our last home edd camp we made some ruler boomerangs.
Now I am going to try and explain this to you.
needed:
30 cm ruler.
cardboard
double sided sticky tape.
sticky paper and stuff to decorate
space to try it out
What to do:
draw around the ruler four times so you end up with 4 strips of cardboard.
using double sided sticky tape stick two peices together ontop of each other.
using tape again, sandwhich this peice between the other two, forming an x shape.
Decorate. Use as a traditional boomerang, experiement with the throw and if necessary curve the card a bit. But they do work.
I will try and get a picture of Asha’s up some time soon
