Codex Alimentairus a law to hand over the control of natural remedies to the pharmaceutical giants.

Dear Friends,

I know some of you will be familiar with this, for others you may not be aware
of what parliament is about to do in your name. Codex Alimentairus is a law
designed to hand over the control of natural remedies to the pharmaceutical
giants. One more attempt to regulate us – with potentially dire consequences.
Unless we take this last opportunity and act now we will not be able to buy
vitamins or health/nutritional supplements without a doctor’s prescription -
they will be banned from 31st December 2009.

You may think this can’t happen, you may think why haven’t I heard about this
before. The reason is that there are vested interests, giant multinational
pharmaceutical companies, and it’s not in their interest that you know about and
oppose this. They and our lawmakers in Europe are banking on public apathy.
Despite considerable pressure already exerted our government is still planning
to implement this law – UNLESS THERE IS MASSIVE OPPOSITION IT WILL GO AHEAD.

Like many health and safety matters this was started with good intentions, in
1962 by the United Nations, to establish international free trade foods but has
become a major threat to our civil liberties and freedom of choice.

As the song says: YOU DON’T KNOW WHAT YOU’VE GOT TILL IT’S GONE

  • This is to protest in the strongest terms to the enforcement of the Codex Alimentarius in a form which inhibits the free availability of health and nutritional supplements. As a political move, it is unintelligent, as it will lead to a backlash by ordinary consumers. That might not be a wise strategy in an election year.

This Act is wholly wrong. Our population is living longer due to the interest people take in improving their own lives and health. The NHS cannot cope and Doctor’s surgeries are not in the least caring for their clients attitude to self survival.
Please leave things like this alone and let us make up our own minds

The is wholly wrong and is not required. The GPs are already overworked and will not be able to cope with extra work.
I would suggest that things are left as they are and let individuals decide for themselves.

It is essential that responsible intelligent people have access to health giving natural remedies, without the interference of large pharmecutical companies who do not want people to healthy and natural.

Working in the UK Food Supplement market, to the best of my knowledge, I believe this as expressed to be factually wrong. Codex will take as its blueprint the EU Supplements Directive that is due to come into forcr on Jan 1 2010. This Directive appeared back in 2002, and is in two parts, potency levels and nutrient forms. At the time it was high profile, however it went off the boil because a period of grace called derogation gave manufacturers till the end of 2009 to submit dossiers and have them judged by EFSA (European Food Standards Agency). Both Consumers for Health Choice and Alliance for Natural Health (both have easily found websites) have been actively campaigning. I urge you to visit their websites. What is true is that there will be a loss of nutrient forms on Jan 1 and the issue of potencies will not be resolved until after the Irish referendum. The EU is quoted as saying that the sacrifice of the UK health food industry is an acceptable price to pay for harmonisation of the overall EU market.

  • We believe this is wrong.

Informed people should be able to get hold of natural remedies without needing the permission of a doctor.

all adults should be able to deside themselves, to go to gp or health store, not the e.u, joining the e.u. is the worst thing to ever happen to this country, its ok for them to say its acceptable to sacrifice the health food industry, whwt about all the jobs and peoples in it not to mention the millions of people who rely on these supplements. the best thing for this country would be to sacrifice the e.u.
