A poignant story that stands the test of time. On a school trip 40 years ago I was enchanted by this 'history' and tell it to my children today.

The doubt remains for me that Llewellyn would not have checked the crib the moment he saw what he thought had happened. Having said this, the story has a poignancy that makes it 'feel to be true' and typical of the bahviour we all still exhibit today: shoot first, look properly later!
