Are such things done on Albion’s shore?
The image of this nation that haunts me most powerfully is that of the sleeping giant Albion in William Blake’s prophetic books. Sleep, profound and inveterate slumber: that is the condition of Britain today.
We do not know what is happening to us. In the world outside, great events take place, great figures move and act, great matters unfold, and this nation of Albion murmurs and stirs while malevolent voices whisper in the darkness – the voices of the new laws that are silently strangling the old freedoms the nation still dreams it enjoys. Shakespear!
We recently managed to get hold of.. with some help from J, a boxed set of childrens shakespear books. Redhouse books.
This morning we enjoyed, Midsummers Nights Dream and Romeo And Juliet in bed, and This evening we read, Twelfth Night.
Asha absolutely loved them.. They are illustrated enough for her to enjoy looking at the line drawings, and ask questions whilst listening to the stories…
Fantastic.. And because they arent tooo long, I can read her a whole book in less than an hour.
Now which Key Stage do they cover Shakespere in

Is the Government right to be concerned about home schooling
VCF – The Victoria Climbié Foundation UK is genuinely concerned about the link being made between Victoria Climbié and home education, and Victoria as a hidden child. Victoria was neither home-educated nor hidden.
The reality is that there is no such thing as a ‘hidden’ child, only children who are allowed to fall through the gaps. The key issue here is how statutory services interact with children that are known within the child protection system.
And I do feel that untill the goverment is able to look after the children it has been given responisiblity for, then it needs to leave the rest of us alone!!!

“The group considered a range of complex issue in great depth taking full account of the views of patient groups and health professionals.”
And he added the court case was “diverting resources away” from NICE’s core work.
The hearing is expected to last two days and the guidance will remain in place until the judge gives his verdict.

Pantomime
We took Asha to see a friend in a Pantomime today in Ellesmere port, at the civic hall.
Although during parts of it Asha was very upset, she did say on the way home she loved it, wants to see it again, and thought G was very very funny in it!
Asha also enjoyed seeing Granny and Grandad I think!
Tonight when we got home Asha enjoyed playing around with a torch, making shadows. After a few minutes I found some work sheets to formalise this exercise onto.. So today she has had a very educational day!
